is a 15-year computer systems veteran working exclusively in corporate environments,
He has spent the past 5 years focused on the realms of Internet security
and corporate financial systems. Currently working as a database administrator
for the leading dental practice management software company, he routinely
provides solutions to problems encountered by this U.S $120M company.
Among
his recent accomplishments:
• Automation of credit card billing.
Using solid, industry-recognized credit card processing software to process
credit card transactions, the company’s existing SQL-based accounting system
was seamlessly integrated allowing authorized personnel to routinely process
more than $1.5 Million in payments monthly without having to learn any new
software or techniques. Upper management estimated the monthly operational
cost savings to be approximately $40,000 in man-hour and credit card merchant
fees.
• Large-systems integration.
Intranet integration of four disparate SQL-based database servers serving
the customer service, order entry/sales, accounting and E-commerce departments
allowed each system to communicate crucial customer data automatically. Previously,
each system had been an “island” resulting in a customer service nightmare:
tech support reps giving away support to clients who had no support contracts
or worse yet, hadn’t paid for their support contracts; order entry clerks
having to manually enter data into a system from printed output of a different
system; online orders received from customers taking a week or more to process
due, again, to the need for manual data entry.
• Information delivery.
Utilizing the latest data-binding techniques available through Active Server
Pages (ASP) and the power of Microsoft SQL Server, information from disparate
business systems was, for the first time, available in combined form as fast
as the user could click a button or browser link. ASP technology, coupled
in some cases with the large-volume data handling abilities of venerable
reporting tool Crystal Reports, management and end-users were presented with
solutions allowing them to access needed information without having to learn
or use cumbersome, complex client-based applications.
